Detailed Description
We will pick you up from your hotel in the city of Puno and head towards the port of Isla Esteves, located on the shores of Lake Titicaca. You will receive a brief general explanation about the tour from our guide-instructor, and then we will begin this fantastic adventure on a water bike.
We will pedal for a total of an hour and a half, while observing beautiful birds along the way and breathtaking landscapes. We will be able to admire Isla Foroba, a rocky island popularly known as Devil`s Island.
Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world, sitting at an elevation of 3,812 meters above sea level. This beautiful place is located in Peru and Bolivia, and it features several important islands such as Isla Taquile and Isla Amantaní.
We will take a bike ride to the floating islands of the Uros, where we will have a guided tour and free time to explore the islands, as well as meet the local inhabitants by visiting their family homes and learn about their ancestral customs and way of life.
The Uros Islands are a set of islands made with totora reeds. The houses are also built with the same material, as it is abundant in the area. The predominant language on this island is Aymara, but they also speak Spanish.
The notable fauna in this area includes fish such as trout, and birds such as hawks, herons, and Andean ducks.
At the end, we will return to the port of Isla Esteves and then transfer you back to your hotel.
