        Detailed Description

This is a full-day experience that will allow us to get to know the northern part of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, visiting the small town of Porvenir and the King Penguin colony in Bahía Inútil.
We will start early in the morning, around 7:00 a.m., leaving the hotel in Punta Arenas, to head to the Tres Puentes terminal to board a two-hour ferry that will take us to Porvenir on Isla Tierra del Fuego. From Tres Puentes we will cross the Strait of Magellan, a historic 583 km long canal that connects the waters of the Pacific Ocean with the Atlantic. In Porvenir we will visit the Fernando Cordero Rusque Museum with exhibits of fauna, pioneering cinema in Chile, gold mining, and an archaeology and ethnography collection of the Selknam, ancient inhabitants of the Patagonian territory.
After enjoying a delicious local lunch, we will continue along the border of Bahía Inútil, crossing an island that surprises with its endless pampas and its horizon that projects into infinity.
Along the way we will be able to appreciate various birds, sheep ranches, and herds of guanacos, a South American camelid related to the llama and the alpaca. After about 114 km we will arrive at the King Penguin Park where a permanent colony of this species resides, the largest in size after the emperor penguin.
These large penguins are the best divers and dive to great depths to reach those places where schools of squid are frequent. During the summer season it is also possible to see some chicks, a beautiful experience.
We will leave the park heading towards Primera Angostura, the narrowest point of the strait of only 5 km wide. There we will cross back to the continent on a 20-minute ferry, after which we will take a route of about 200 km until we reach Punta Arenas.

A unique experience that you cannot miss if you come to Magallanes!
