Detailed Description
The tour begins when we meet our guides and instructors at the meeting point in downtown Puerto Madryn. From here, we will cross to the beach where we will board the boat that will take us to the point where we will find the colony of sea lions.
During the navigation, we will enjoy incredible views of the beach, cliffs, and the city of Puerto Madryn. During the 25-minute journey, we may also spot various types of seabirds and, depending on the season, whales and dolphins.
We will disembark at a small beach in the Punta Loma Protected Natural Area where we will receive a theoretical instruction about snorkeling techniques, handling and behavior within the protected area, buoyancy (it is important to understand that with the wetsuit, no extra flotation device is needed as it allows us to float), and our behavior within the area, emphasizing that we are visitors in the animals' habitat.
Even before entering the sea, the sea lions will surprise us with their heads very close to the boat, curious to see who will be the first person to enter the water to play with them.
Once everyone is fully equipped, we will start entering the water and gradually, the sea lions will approach us, almost fearlessly and with great curiosity. Although we cannot touch them, we will observe that they quickly resume their usual activities around us, including us in their movements. The snorkeling activity will last approximately 45 minutes.
We will return to the coast on the same boat, arriving back in the city of Puerto Madryn.
