The Saddle Walk
Hiking to the saddle is an excellent choice for those seeking a shorter walk. Even with the shorter distance, you’ll still enjoy stunning views, and the round trip can be completed in just 3–4 hours. Enjoy the stunning scenery of Ben Lomond as you take on the steady uphill hike from Bob’s Peak. The saddle, nestled between the mountains, offers breathtaking vistas of the vast peaks in Mt Aspiring National Park. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a packed lunch before heading back down.

Elevation Gain: 536 metres (1,759 feet)

The Summit Walk
For those ready to tackle a challenging walk, hiking to the Ben Lomond summit is an unforgettable adventure. Reaching the saddle provides a perfect spot to take a break and soak in the incredible vistas of Moonlight Station, Mount Crichton Station, and beyond. From here, the trail becomes steeper and more demanding, but the effort is well worth it. Once you reach the summit, you’ll be rewarded with 360-degree views of Queenstown, the Wakatipu Basin, and even as far as Fiordland and Westland National Parks on clear days.
