Detailed Description
Walk through the windy Walpa Gorge where thirty-six giant domes (The Olgas) tower above. Covered by sea 500 million years ago, soft rock eroded away as Kata Tjuta remained. Kata Tjuta means ‘many heads’ in local Pitjantjatjara Aboriginal language, and is a sacred site to the male Anangu Aboriginal people. Your tour ends back at your hotel, leaving time to freshen up for any dinner experiences you may have planned.
Please note: During summer (December – March) the itinerary changes. Instead of walking through Walpa Gorge, stops are made at the Southern Dune Viewing Platform for panoramic views of Kata Tjuta and Uluru in the distance. A stop is then made at the Western lookout, where you’ll travel closer to Kata Tjuta. Finally, a short drive is taken on the famous Great Central Road to the western boundary of the National Park
