Detailed Description
After we meet at the meeting point, La Candela Hotel (Pueyrredón 346), we will begin by enjoying the “Road to the Clouds”: in this first part, we will follow the tracks of the famous Train to the Clouds. On this route we cross the Quebrada del Toro to San Antonio de los Cobres. We will make photo stops, for example at the La Polvorilla Viaduct, and visit Alfarcito, a picturesque spot located in the heights of the Quebrada del Toro, where we will have breakfast.
After this, we will begin the tour along the route that will take us to Salinas Grandes. A completely different landscape from the one we saw in the first part of the trip and with many possibilities of seeing llamas and vicuñas.
In Salinas, we will witness one of the most beautiful white expanses in Argentina. Here, with the help of a local guide, we will have time to explore this great sea of salt, the turquoise lagoons that impact everyone who visits them, and including a very special visit to the Ojos del Salar (subject to weather conditions or limited in the summer by the native communities that manage the visits).
We will begin the third section, crossing the Cuesta de Lipán, an unforgettable scenic route, with a descent of 2,000 meters in 35 km. There you will see the transition from the desert of the Puna to the fertility of the wettest valleys. After this journey, we will arrive at the town of Purmamarca, where we will make a technical stop.
From here, we begin the return to the city of Salta.
