Itinerary
We will leave today from our hotel between approximately 06:00 and 06:30 hrs to make the most of the day, this exciting adventure will take us through some of the most spectacular and diverse landscapes you have ever seen.
Leaving San Pedro, we will begin an ascent to reach approximately 4,000 meters above sea level to reach the Piedras Rojas, a geological formation with intense red rocks located in the middle of the plateau. The contrast between the red rocks and the turquoise lake is simply stunning. Here we will have time to explore and take photographs in this surreal landscape.
We will continue ascending until we reach almost 4,200 meters above sea level, to the Miscanti and Miñiques Altiplanic Lagoons, which are beautiful high mountain sister lagoons located in the Los Flamencos National Reserve. These lagoons are surrounded by mountains and offer us the opportunity to observe birds and take photographs of unique landscapes. The lagoon is an ideal place to appreciate the natural beauty and wildlife of the region.
After visiting the lagoons, we will go to Laguna Chaxa, which is a part of the Salar de Atacama. Chaxa is a salt lagoon that attracts flamingos and other water birds due to its high salt and nutrient content. Here we will have the opportunity to observe these beautiful birds in their natural habitat and learn about the unique fauna and flora of the area.
The Salar de Atacama is the largest salt flat in Chile and one of the largest in the world. We will have the opportunity to walk through the salt flat, observe the impressive salt formations and enjoy the breadth of the landscape. Also during our visit, our guide will make sure to look for the perfect places with the best postcard you have ever seen to enjoy breakfast and also lunch.
After exploring these natural wonders, we will return to San Pedro de Atacama, we will leave you near the municipal parking lot, from there you can tour the town a little or return to your hotel on your own, if you prefer to take the private service we can drop you off at the hotel where we picked you up.
