Itinerary
We will pick you from any hotel located in Panama city but those located in the "Casco Antiguo" due to the size of the bus. The Partial Canal Transit departing from La Playita in Amador takes place minimum every Saturday all year round but between November and April the frequency could be even daily. This tour gives you the memorable opportunity of learning how this engineer marvel was built and also to transit two set of Locks. The ship departs the Flamenco Island in Amador, where the La Playita is located, and goes right under the Americas bridge, pass by the Balboa port on one side and the Rodman former American navy base on the other and head into the Miraflores Locks; the ship is raised up to 54 feet in a two steps process. This activity is achieved by sending water from Pedro Miguel’s lake by gravity to fill the chambers where the ship is locked. Once the process is finished, get into Pedro Miguel’s Lake. Calling at Gamboa you are then transferred to a bus to return to Balboa approximately six hours after your pickup.
WE WILL ONLY KNOW THE PICKUP TIME THE PREVIOUS EVENING. We will be calling you at your hotel after getting the Panama Canal Authority information therefore is mandatory to know where you are. THE PICKUP TIME COULD BE SCHEDULE ANYTIME BETWEEN 5:30 AM TO NOON.
If you have not selected a pick up point at booking time call or email Gray Line Panama 24 hours prior to your tour. We need your booking number, your hotel name and location for pick-up. For those passengers that have picked a hotel at booking or contacted us with that information we will call your hotel the evening before leaving you a message with the approximate time of pick up Panama City Hotel.
