Itinerary
This is a fascinating experience, which will take us to one of the most iconic and surreal places from the Atacama Desert, about 13 kilometers west of San Pedro de Atacama, we will find this landscape that seems from another planet, The Valley of the Moon.
We will leave your hotel at approximately 2:30 p.m. from the hotel (the schedule may change depending on the time of year and weather conditions). we will dive into this lunar landscape that gives its name to the place. The Valley of the Moon is characterized for its unique rock formations , sand and salt dunes, and an almost total absence of vegetation.
We will take a walk along the Cordillera de la Sal where We will observe this spectacular geological phenomenon, made up of large deposits of salt, gypsum and loamy soils, This mountain range offers a landscape rich in natural sculptures, mountains and salt ridges eroded by wind and water over millions of years. Among this singular morphology, the best known are Las Tres Marías and El Amphitheatre.
The valley is part of the Los Flamencos National Reserve and is administered by the indigenous communities of Coyo, San Pedro, Quitor, Entourage, Larache and Yaye.
