Detailed Description
A relaxing half day excursion in Pisa for those who have always dreamed of visiting the famous Leaning Tower and Pisa’s other architectural wonders!
Your personal chauffeur will pick you up at your accommodation, and you will embark on your journey through the sunny Tuscan countryside between Florence and Pisa. Upon arrival, you will be conveniently dropped off right in front of Piazza dei Miracoli, where the symbol of the city has been standing for 840 years.
Piazza dei Miracoli is home to many elaborate buildings of historic and artistic value. After snapping plenty of fun photos in front of the fascinating Leaning Tower, explore the rest of the square. Start at the imposing Cathedral, with its elaborately carved pulpit by Giovanni Pisano, then the Baptistery and the Monumental Graveyard, partially destroyed during the bombings of World War II and recently restored to its original splendour.
If you are interested in seeing the more “local” side of Pisa, you can make your way to Piazza dei Cavalieri, where the Muda Tower stands. Mentioned by Dante in his Divine Comedy, this former tower – now included in the Palazzo dell'Orologio – is famous for being the place Count Ugolino della Gherardesca and his family were imprisoned.
Before heading back to your accommodation in Florence, ask your chauffeur to drive along the Arno River so you can admire the stunning Lungarni Pisani... Giacomo Leopardi, one of the greatest Italian poets, declared the views from this riverbank were more beautiful than those in Florence! You will have to decide yourself!
After an exciting half day of exploration in Pisa, simply sit back and enjoy the private transportation to Florence.
This excursion is perfect for those who like to take things at their own pace and want to make the most of a half day out in Pisa.
