    Itinerary

    We`ll split this experience at the meeting point about 15 minutes before 2:30 p.m. To start our way traveling to Ahu Akivi, one of the few ceremonial platforms where the moais seem to look at the sea.

    Ahu Akivi is a set of platforms ceremonialis guarded by seven moais that face the sea, this is also one of the few Ahu where the moais they have restored eyes.

    We will learn, along with our local expert guide, on how they were carved, transported and erected these impressive statues, and what significance they had for ancient Rapa Nui society. They will also tell us a little about the enigmatic collapse of the Rapa Nui civilization and how that influenced in the current culture of the island.

    We will further discover the myths behind the creation of these statues and how they are intertwined with the worldview and beliefs of the island.

    In addition to the Ahu, we will visit Puna Pau, a small crater of red volcanic stone in which they made the Pukao, a kind of cylinder of stone that we can find in several moais of the island as a hat.

    Lastly We will continue to the caverns of Ana Te Pahu, a complex of caves and galleries located on the slopes of the volcano Maunga Terevaka, which is inactive and where we can find traces of the ancient inhabitants.

    After exploring the area and having had an afternoon full of history and culture, we will be returning to our point meeting at approximately 5:30 p.m.
