Detailed Description
The tour starts with the passengers pick-up from their hotels in downtown El Calafate, to travel to the starting point of the tour. The first stop is at the Puerto Punta Bandera, where we will board a modern boat that will take us to the area of the Estancia to start the tour.
After disembarking, 4x4 vehicles specially equipped for this type of terrain, will be waiting us to begin a journey of 9.5 km through the Cordón Feruglio, on a mountain road, which not so long ago used to be covered by glaciers. During the trip we will enjoy watching attractive landscapes of great geological value, until we reach the shelter Continental Icefields.
From there we will take a walk of about 20 minutes to reach the Mirador del Upsala, located 550 meters above sea level, where we can appreciate the Lake Guillermo and the imposing eastern front of Upsala Glacier, the southern Patagonian ice, and Cerros Murallón and Don Bosco.
After the contemplation from the scenic viewpoint, we will begin another trek to descend to the Canyon of the Fossils, an area with a large concentration of fossils, remains of the last marine ingression, and exposed by glacial action. Finally, we will cross a final stretch to reach the Valley of Estancia Cristina, where we will return to the boat that will take us back to Puerto Punta Bandera, and from there, to the hotels of the passengers, ending the tour
