Itinerary
Discover El Calafate on a tour full of history, nature and tradition.
Embark on a unique walk through the city, exploring the most emblematic and charming corners.
We start at Punta Walichu, a fascinating archaeological site just 8 km from the center. There, you will travel back in time as you discover the traces of the first inhabitants of these lands. A walk among eaves and caves will reveal impressive cave paintings (originals and reproductions), while you enjoy an unparalleled panoramic view of Lake Argentino and the majestic Andes Mountains.
On the way back, we will tour the historic streets of the old town, where the first buildings of the pioneers intertwine with the present in the vibrant civic center. Our guide, an expert narrator, will transport you to the past to learn about the history of the first settlers, while revealing the secrets of the flora and fauna that enrich this small tourist gem.
On the Paseo Costero and BahÃa Redonda, on the shores of Lake Argentino, nature is shown in all its splendor with abundant birdlife that will capture your attention.
The tour continues at the Historical Interpretation Center, where, through a self-guided tour, you will be able to explore at your own pace the most relevant moments of the region, from the ice ages to the present. The reproductions of dinosaurs that inhabited these lands will transport you millions of years back, turning this space into one of the most outstanding paleontological museums in Patagonia.
To finish, we will enter La Chacra Las Moras, a corner full of life and flavor. Here you will discover an authentic place of production of fine fruits and fresh vegetables, a delight for the senses that will leave you with an indelible memory of El Calafate.
