      Essential Information

Here are some details and outlines to ensure you will be able to participate safely and enjoy your tour. Please circle your answers and add any details.

      You will be: -

1). Stepping down into & up out of the very small tenders at the finger jetty, and then clambering onto the boat, which will be moving around independently of the small tender. It can be slippery and quite a deep step.

2). There will be the Stress of getting into deep water at the back of the boat. The boat is Not Anchored when whale sharking and can be in very choppy seas. For non-confident swimmers this can be a bit daunting, jumping into deep water.

3). Physical exertion is required to swim/snorkel in choppy water to try and watch the whale shark swim past. Everyone will be exerting themselves beyond their normal levels and this is where the strenuous activity will be exaggerated for guests with any heart or lung conditions etc.

4). Physical exertion is required to climb out of the water onto a moving boat platform with as mall ladder. This will be the hardest part immediately after the swim. Everyone will be tired and anxious to get out of the water, onto the back of the boat.

5). The whole procedure to swim with an animal is quite a timely event and there is a definite sense of urgency to catch the megafauna, if you take too long to get in, it will have swum past the group. The average fit person can keep up with a whale shark for about 2 minutes, before tiring. The time, from getting into the water, to swim and then climbing back onto the boat, will be about 5 to 7 minutes in duration.

6). We will repeat this several times, for each group. We allow some rest time of 5 to 10 minutes in-between swims & the guests can always sit out a swim.

7). If you are a non-swimmer this IS NOT the tour for you! You will need to be comfortable in the water, as a personal assistant is not always practical or immediately available in the water. Your Snorkel Ability MUST be Confident

8). These animals are wild and unpredictable at times. The ocean can be hazardous and present any number of situations with rough water or fauna that is harmful.

      Medical questions: -

1). Have you had problems with your lungs, breathing, heart and/or blood, affecting normal physical or mental performance. No/ Yes Details………

2). Do you struggle to perform moderate exercise (for example, walk 1.0 kilometre/one mile in14 minutes or swim 50 meters/yards without resting), OR have been unable to participate in anormal physical activity due to fitness or health reasons. No/ Yes Details………

3). Have you lost consciousness, had migraine headaches, seizures, stroke, significant head injury, or suffer from persistent neurologic injury or disease. No/ Yes Details………

If you answered yes to any medical questions, a clearance for a strenuous snorkelling activity will be required from your doctor

        Detailed Description

Being wild animals every day is unique and our focus is on Mega Fauna. The visibility conditions and animal behaviours, or numbers swimming thru, are not always just right enough to swim with humpback whales. Certain times we have Mothers with small calf's, that are restricted to swim with. We don't know until we get out there what will be accessible, how the whales behave or even if there are any, and even if there is a whaleshark in the same area.. What we do know is that we will have small groups, our plane and the best crew to get the best results possible on the day.

From June until October we are authorized to operate tours where guests may enter the water when the whales are relaxed, with a maximum group size of 7 swimmers plus a guide & Videographer in the water at the same time. While non-swimming guests observe the whales from the boat whilst manoeuvring as close as 75 meters! This is closer than any other whale watching cruise in Australia. This will give you a very special view for non-swimmers to enjoy the whales as they display their natural behaviours.

FREE Video & Pictures of the day Included. We will copy these onto one 8Gb souvenir USB for your booking. Pictures and Video will be available at our shop in the Mall next to the bakery, after 9am the following day. If you are leaving early we can post the USB at the nominal postage charge for your home location.

The swimmers, with the careful watch of their guide, will slide into the water and approach the Humpback Whale. We have strict distance guidelines and safety is paramount in these very special encounters. Swimmers can approach as close as 30 meters from the whale which will provide an excellent surface view of the animals and allow the swimmers to hear their beautiful songs. The whales are curious and are allowed to approach us within 15 metres giving us a unique close encounter. Our dedicated spotter plane pilot personally talks via radio, to the in-water guide to ensure a great interaction.

Before entering the water near a whale or whaleshark, swimmers will be required to take a morning quick in water swimming assessment as required by our license conditions. You must be physically fit, over 13years old, MUST be a good snorkeller and have snorkelled within the past 6 months to be eligible to enter the water with a whale
