Itinerary
This incredible adventure starts very early in the morning departing from the city of Cusco. After picking you up at the hotel, we are going to travel through beautiful towns until reach the picturesque village of Paucartambo.
Paucartambo is located 68 miles from the city at 2,906 meters above sea level. This town celebrates one of the most important festivals in the region, the Festival of Virgen del Carmen.
The tour to Manu continues taking the road with lunch on the route until reach the Cloud Forest. This place houses wonderful wildlife such as Spectacled Bear or the Cock of the Rock. Here, you will admire different species of plants and flowers like orchids and bromeliads.
Upon arrival to the lodge we are going to rest. The lodge is located in the Manu cultural zone at 1,700 meters above sea level. Around this place you will find trails, specially made to explore this part of the Amazon rainforest. The entire circuit has about 5 kilometers, and you should be with a tour guide during the walk.
You will enjoy a lovely dinner.
During the sunrise we will enjoy a boat ride to search the famous Cock of the Rock, the Peruvian national bird. This beautiful bird has a spectacular colorful plumage.
After breakfast, we will go to the small lovely town of Pilcopata located at 589 meters above sea level. The Manu National Park is situated between Cusco and Madre de Dios and it is divided by three areas: the cultural zone, the reserved zone and the protected one.
If you wish, you have the option to practice Rafting for one hour on an incredible adventure along the Koñeq river and high Madre de Dios river, with rapids class I and II. Enjoy the landscapes and take a bath in the river to end this fun activity.
Later, we will go to the Atalaya Port to take the boat and explore the amazing species of birds around, until reach the lodge where we are going to spend the next 3 nights, in the middle of the Peruvian jungle.
The lodge has a trail circuit around that you can explore anytime with a tour guide. This day includes lunch and dinner.
Early in the morning, we will take a walking tour to appreciate the wildlife around the lodge and learn about the local flora and fauna from the professional guide.
After breakfast, the tour starts taking a boat ride across the river and then begin a walk of 30 minutes to admire species of plants and flora like medicinal plants and different kind of tropical fruits.
Upon arriving to the lagoon of Machuwasi, we are going to paddle in canoes to still searching for species of mammals in their habitat. This fantastic jungle houses many species of butterflies as well as species of reptiles and giant otters.
You have the option to practice Zipline and fly over the fantastic jungle of Manu, going fast from tree to tree in this fantastic adventure.
We will have a night tour near the lodge to look for insects and nocturnal animals. This day includes all the meals.
This day starts with a very special tour. We are going to explore the jungle with a morning walk to admire an amazing kapok, a huge tree with impressive roots. Enjoy the beauty of the wild vegetation all around.
Manu National Park is a natural protected area declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
We will back to the lodge for breakfast and take a boat road then to the Madre de Dios river to reach the pools of Aguas Calientes in a fantastic tour of one hour and a half.
You can take a refreshing bath in the river while you admire the wonderful Peruvian jungle and enjoy a delicious lunch.
We are going to have a well-deserved rest at the lodge and later a delicious dinner will be served. Hear the sound of insects, animals and birds before sleeping, a unique experience that you cannot miss.
The last day begin with a morning tour to visit a macaw clay lick, a wall of clay use as a nutritional balance for different kind of birds such as blue-headed parrot, Macarano macaw or the white-eyed parakeet.
We will back to the lodge and then start our return to Puerto Atalaya, where our transportation will take you to the city of Cusco and drop you off at your hotel. The lunch is included on the route.
